Choosing the Right Lighting Fixtures.

Lighting Fixtures
Lighting is perhaps one of the most important things in a room. You can easily turn a dingy dark room into a light and airy pleasant environment. But pick the wrong ones and you may find your room unusable and uncomfortable. Choosing the right fixture is very important. Here are a few of your options.
Recessed Lighting
Recessed lighting, is just that, it is recessed into the ceiling. It can either be in a fixed position or it can be capable of rotating to direct its light. They do generally produce a lot of heat and are therefore not very efficient.
Track Lighting
Track lighting gives you many options. With it, you can add or subtract lights very easily. You can also rearrange and re-aim them however you like. With track lighting, a metal strip or track is installed on the ceiling. The tracks connect to one another so you can lay out almost any length you like. The light fixtures attach to the track at any point you like and can be pointed in any direction.
Surface Mounted Lighting
Fixtures mounted directly to the ceiling. These are the most basic lights which most homes come standard with. They will have sockets holding usually 2 bulbs and will have a translucent shield to help cut down on glare. They are very economical and produce even lighting.
Under Cabinet/ Task Lighting
Fluorescent bulbs mounted underneath a kitchen cabinet or work station. They provide lighting right where it is needed most. They will be shielded on the sides with trim to cut down on glare and focus the light downward.
Wall Mounted Lighting
Great for stairways or where space is limited. Can be used as an accent light to highlight portions of a wall or even as task lighting.
